Teacher Resources
Over the past few years I have found websites that have helped me in my classroom. The ones below are my favorites that I use frequently.
Math Drills: The best math worksheets for any grade and any math concept. Answer keys are also provided. I have even used this website for creating pre and post assessments. A great resource if your school doesn’t have a math curriculum or math textbook. Beth Newingham: Many teachers in Michigan talk about this website and use all of her great literacy ideas. I have used so many new teaching strategies that she has shared online. I have implemented the many aspects of the reading workshop and reading notebooks. Reading Rockets: I found out about this website from one of my masters courses. I found so many great articles and resources that I have continued to use it. The website is a great resource to use to become more knowledgeable about reading. Teacher Vision: I have found a lot of lessons, printable, and activities on this website. Some do require a membership to the website but I have found many that do not. Any topic related to teaching is included on the website including classroom management and holidays. Scholastic: The website has articles, lesson plans, resources, tools, and printables for all grade levels. I have used this website frequently for checking the reading level of books when I leveled my own classroom library and when I checked the level of students’ books. |
Student Resources
Each of these websites I have used in my classroom and encouraged my students to use at home.
Storyline Online: This is an interactive website where students can listen to stories read online. I have used this for a listening station during reading workshop. Time for Kids: This is a great website for students to read about current news in the world. There are also videos for students to watch, articles written by students, and homework help. National Geographic Kids: This is a great social studies website, it includes articles, videos, and fun activities for students. I have had students use this website for research reports on animals and countries. Cool Math 4 Kids: Most of my students have loved this website. It is a fun and interactive way for students to practice different math concepts. |
